{"id":2557,"date":"2011-05-08T18:08:16","date_gmt":"2011-05-09T01:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ourthoughts.ca\/?p=2557"},"modified":"2018-07-12T09:12:02","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T16:12:02","slug":"mothers-of-the-scriptures-where-art-thou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ourthoughts.ca\/2011\/05\/08\/mothers-of-the-scriptures-where-art-thou\/","title":{"rendered":"Mothers of the scriptures, where art thou?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It goes almost without fail that if someone stands up to give a Sacrament talk on Mother\u2019s Day, they will use the story of the 2000 Stripling Warriors as a scriptural support for amazing mothers.<\/p>\n<p>This kind of bugs me though.<\/p>\n<p>There are several mothers in the scriptures who we can use as example in our own lives, whose actions and character mirror that of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a couple.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eve\u2019s desire for knowledge eventually resulted in our becoming mortal.<\/li>\n<li>Rebecca was an example of charity and hard work.<\/li>\n<li>Rachel showed us the virtue of patience.<\/li>\n<li>Mary, the mother of Jesus, had a simple faith and was determined to do the Lord\u2019s will no matter the cost.<\/li>\n<li>Sariah was convinced of the power of the Lord.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Why is it we never hear about these great examples on Mother\u2019s Day?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It goes almost without fail that if someone stands up to give a Sacrament talk on Mother\u2019s Day, they will &hellip;
