For our opening hymn on Sunday, we sang \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Prayer is the Soul\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Sincere Desire\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. This is one of my favourite hymns. I find it so poetic, and parts of it really resonate with me.<\/p>\n
The phrase \u00e2\u20ac\u0153prayer is the burden of a sigh\u00e2\u20ac\u009d brings to mind all those times when praying where I felt stress and burdens melt away.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The upward glancing of an eye\u00e2\u20ac\u009d reminds me of all those times I looked to heaven and said a quick, silent prayer before a talk, or presentation, or entering a home to counsel someone.<\/p>\n
I think my favourite verse, however, is the fourth:<\/p>\n
Prayer is the contrite sinner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s voice,
\nReturning from their way,
\nWhile angels in their songs rejoice
\nAnd cry, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Behold, he prays!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nOh, to imagine the angels rejoicing when my\u00c2\u00a0family\u00c2\u00a0members and close friends decided to turn back to God!<\/p>\n
It is no wonder the\u00c2\u00a0suggestion\u00c2\u00a0in the hymnal is to sing this song\u00c2\u00a0peacefully.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
