Last week, Stephen Harper claimed<\/a>:<\/p>\n Today, we see more volatility in the financial markets due to the crisis in the United States. Remember, Canada is not the United States. The fundamentals of the Canadian economy are sound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Granted, this was said at the beginning of the week before the TSX had two of it largest single-day drops in history.<\/p>\n Today, the TSX started off terrible<\/a>, falling 11 percentage points right out if the gate, and closed lower than where it had ended Friday. To top it off, get this.<\/p>\n No sector was untouched ?\u00a2\u201a\u00c7\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u00fa health care was off about 7 per cent, industrials fell 6.35 per cent and materials fell 5.62 per cent. The telecom sector fared the best, losing 3.01 per cent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Are the fundamentals of our economy still sound?
