{"id":1144,"date":"2007-06-27T12:07:08","date_gmt":"2007-06-27T19:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ourthoughts.ca\/2007\/06\/27\/what-kind-of-mormon-are-you\/"},"modified":"2007-06-27T12:11:07","modified_gmt":"2007-06-27T19:11:07","slug":"what-kind-of-mormon-are-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ourthoughts.ca\/2007\/06\/27\/what-kind-of-mormon-are-you\/","title":{"rendered":"What Kind of Mormon Are You?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over on the Sunstone Blog, Stephen Carter <a href=\"http:\/\/sunstoneblog.com\/?p=218\">writes<\/a>, &#8220;Right now we have four kinds of Mormons: active, inactive, jack, and ex.&#8221; He goes on to say that he would like to see two new kinds of Mormons:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>New Mormon #1: Emeritus Mormon. We have general authority emeriti right? Why can?\u00a2\u201a\u00c7\u00a8\u201a\u00d1\u00a2t we have Mormon emeriti? Why can?\u00a2\u201a\u00c7\u00a8\u201a\u00d1\u00a2t someone come through, serve us as brilliantly as Richard [Dutcher] did, and then move on?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>and new mormon #2:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>New Mormon #2: (Sorry, I can?\u00a2\u201a\u00c7\u00a8\u201a\u00d1\u00a2t think of a name for them yet.) These Mormons take their religion seriously. It gives their life meaning and purpose. They believe that it will perpetuate itself into eternity. They have faith in their fellow Mormons. So much so, that when a fellow Mormon leaves, New Mormon #2s treat it as a farewell to a friend who is about to tour the world.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Can you think of any others that should be added to the list? Here, along with the basic four, are a few off the top of my head. Some are more serious than others, and there is some crossover between items but I&#8217;m hoping they will get you thinking.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Active-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Inactive-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Jack-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Ex-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Less-active-Mormon*<\/li>\n<li>Feminist-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Intellectual-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Anti-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Molly-Mormon \/ Peter Priesthood<\/li>\n<li>Apathetic Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Post-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Dry-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Catholic-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Fundamentalist-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Black-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Gay-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Social-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Genetic-Mormon (Mormon by family or birth)<\/li>\n<li>New convert-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Disillusioned-Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Married to a Mormon<\/li>\n<li>Non-Mormon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*in case there is some difference between less-active and inactive.<\/p>\n<p>Do you know any of these Mormons?
