Our opening hymn in Sacrmaent meeting yesterday was #227, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìThere Is Sunshine in My Soul Today?¢‚Ǩ¬ù.
If you look at the top right hand corner of the page for that hymn in the hymnal, you’ll see that it says to sing it joyfully. I am here to testify that our ward was not singing joyfully. In fact, when I tried singing it joyfully, someone near me looked at me funny.
yeah I know the feeling. I think there should be a music class for ALL pianists and ward choristers that explain to them what beats mean and what descriptive terms means such as Joyful. At times those songs sound more like something you would sing at a funeral. This week in Sunday School we were talking about Sacrament meetings and that by singing we show joy to our Savior and the ward chorister mumbles “in that case no one is very happy with Him cause from my viewpoint very few adults sing”. Which is sad.
