There is of course a concept of women having a share of the Priesthood through the sealing powers. I think the early saints generally felt that Mother’s prayers over the sick were like a priesthood blessing.

Yet my feeling is this may have more to do with the temple endownment. But to be honest, as I said that is about as far as I could speculate.
