So after reading the article, I’m curious.
What would be an example of recent doctrine?
Does anyone know what the last item added to the standard works was?
Also the article states:
“Moreover, the Church exhorts all people to approach the gospel not only intellectually but with the intellect and the spirit, a process in which reason and faith work together.”
But then how do you deal with situations when your intellect gives you one answer, and you know fully that the correct ‘spiritual’ answer should be something different?

Honestly, I wish that was the situation. I think things would be much better if that were the case.
Rick, the last items added to the standard works were Joseph Smith’s vision concerning the redemption of the dead (now Section 137) and Joseph F. Smith’s vision on the same topic (now Section 138) and Official Declaration 2. These were added in the 1970s.
