>this definitely is a quaint town where stuff doesn’t really happen. It’s pretty boring here.
Blacksburg has about half the population that Lethbridge does.
Virginia Tech has mroe than 26,000 students, so let’s not overstate the area’s quaint, small-town qualities.
Don’t tell me. Tell that to the person the report quoted.
I wasn’t rebuking you, I was speaking to the audience in general, and joining you in your skepticism of the quoted person’s statement about Blacksburg.
I wasn’t being skeptical. I was using the quote to show that if it can happen in Blacksburg, it can happen in Lethbridge.

This is such a horrible tragedy. :(
For comparative purposes, Harris and Klebold killed only 12 people in the Columbine shootings.
According to this article, there were fifteen dead at Columbine, including the perpetrators.

But of course, your point is valid.
By the way, the same article also now puts the death toll at 32.
Oh no. Make that 33 dead, 15 wounded: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18134671/
