Life is full of both.
How about neither? Let them puzzle it out themselves when they are old enough. I had a lot of fun with that question in Jr. High School.
I think it is best to teach children that some things are black and white and some are shades of gray.
They need to have bright lines sometimes.
I teach my children that everything is in Technicolor.
