Of course most people simply wouldn’t count about 150 of those countries as even being in the race at all. The US must be first! FIRST! and ahead of all the rest. Second, let alone fourth, is the first loser!

(Lot’s of sarcasm here.)

Kim,

I am curious at to your views concerning U.S. hyper-patriotism. Do you as a Canadian ever get tired of seeing olymic events turned into some kind of home coming football game or spirit rally?

How can I not be? Our news comes from the States, our music comes from the States, our TV shows come from the States, our movies come from the States, yadda, yadda, yadda.

It is ridiculous to say the U.S. is “lagging.” Common sense should be enough to convince people that same-gender marriage will not help society, but a FEW countries have decided to experiment with it anyway. Most of these are European countries. If you do a little research on the demographic (as well as economic and social) problems Europe is going to be facing because of declining population, you are further convinced that we are well served by not following any social experiment they are trying.

That depends on your view. Legalising same gender marriages would allow those in those relationships to adopt unwanted children. In that way, society would certainly be helped.

How so, and what do economics have to do with anything?
