I’ve heard a lot of ways different members of the Church try to teach their children to keep the Sabbath holy. Ranging from not watching TV to not reading newspapers to not swimming in the pool and so forth.
I am interested in what ‘rules’ others have set for their family to help them remember the purpose of the Sabbath.
I don’t know about “rules”, but I turned down a chance to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy for free today!

We spend time with our kids and grandkids which usually revolves around family dinner. We will go for long quiet walks. But mostly we just stay home and visit with family.
I once had a YM lesson in which we were taught that the Sabbath, although obviously being a day to come closer to our Heavenly Father, is also a day for us to chill out and prepare for the coming week – and so if riding our bikes, going on our skateboards, watching a program on TV (which is normally appropriate towatch) then there shouldnt be a problem with this. Providing, when given the chance, we visit family, do our HT and so on first.
I’m a 19 year old Brit, just about to leave for my mission on January – and personally I don’t see an overly huge problem with this theory…so long as time is spent in personal study and prayer.
