Maybe Americans aren’t adept at laughing at themselves. We Canadians love to laugh at ourselves. It isn’t “bashing” and I don’t see how Kim or Rick were bashing. They were making tongue in cheek remarks. I am not sure why you are so sensitive about it. ONe thing we have learned, being the northern less powerful cousins of the US, is to not only not take ourselves seriously, but to take a lot of harassment and sometimes some pretty downright nasty jibes from the US. Not always though. You don’t see us getting all offended and accusatory.

My comment was a commentary on the tendency of Canadians to define themselves as ‘not American’, rather than as some set of qualities.

Additionally, I have no need to bash the Republicans .. they’re doing a fine job of sinking their own ship.
